100 Days of Writing 110 // 100 days. I did it.

November 15, 2016 By ARMOURELLE

110 // 100 days. I did it. I completed the goal without realizing it. Seems to be a theme. I refused to cheat myself, even when I was sure I’d had enough (no.109) and wanted to sabotage myself (no.96). I still showed up. I waited for the Muse. Some days she hung out with me and whispered ideas in my ear. Some days she waited for me to give her something to work with. And other days, she didn’t bother to show up. The Muse taught me a lesson: that she’s fickle—and not to rely on her. 👾
(My math was totally messed up the first time around when I THOUGHT I’d hit 100 posts. Hey, I know how to stay in my lane. And that lane is letters, not numbers!)

100 Days of Writing 109 // I’m tired.

November 14, 2016 By ARMOURELLE

109 // I’m tired. Before I opened my eyes, I decided I wasn’t going to do my best. I wasn’t going to give today 110%. (Actually, I wasn’t even gonna give 80%.) I don’t feel bad. Here’s an analogy to explain why I chose not to kick ass today: Just because I wrote a novel doesn’t mean I’m compelled to force into some best selling work of literature. The first draft may never leave my computer. And that’s okay. What matters—to me, anyway—is that I continued. 💁🏾

100 Days of Writing 108 // On being a circle.

November 13, 2016 By ARMOURELLE

108 // On being a circle. A lot of times circles wish they were squares. Many more times a circle will squish itself into a square opening in its attempt to prove that it’s malleable enough and flexible enough to indeed be a square—or at least get really, really, really good at fooling the triangles and the real squares.
Every now and then a square opening gets the sharpness of its corners beveled just a bit. And the circle relaxes into it. The cubed opening doesn’t restrict its roundness as much. It’s still not enough room for the circle to bounce or roll. “Hey, guys! Look at my hard work!” The circle thinks it can show how well it has contorted itself to become a square. It’s painfully obvious the circle will never be like the other two shapes.
The squares fit. So do the triangles, because there’s room for two. But circles, poor misguided circles, they just don’t fit. And they never will. 🔵⚫️⚪️🌑🐂
