Curls is Poppin’ with Not Your Mother’s Smooth Moves

June 23, 2014 By ARMOURELLE

Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Results

Kinky Waves are poppin’ with Not Your Mother’s Smooth Moves. These are results after using a denman brush on the ends (This photo was taken after wearing my hair out all day.)

Kids, I needed a kinky curl intervention. Not Your Mother’s Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream was just the thing to get me motivated to style my hair again.

After following a super simple style regimen that consisted of conditioner only and the occasional handful of mousse, I needed a change. It wasn’t that I was trying to be overly simple, I was actually kind of being lazy. These days, my hair is usually in a bun or pulled back into a low pony. Since I’ve dyed my hair, I wanted my kinky waves (yes, I’m making up a new phrase here–just let me make ‘fetch’ happen, hmm-kay) to have some definition.

At first use, I didn’t think I’d like this product. I thought it wouldn’t provide any hold or frizz free-ness that its packaging claimed. The fact that it is lightweight, isn’t greasy and gives a firm hold without being hard or crunchy impressed me. Seriously. I’ve been using it almost every styling session since giving it a ‘real’ try. The product has a gel-like consistency and isn’t sticky. Really, the best thing about this product is the fact that it doesn’t create a coating on your hair that eventually flakes off like uncontrolled dandruff snowballs. Not Your Mother’s Smooth Moves was definitely a great find, considering I picked it up in addition to another, more expensive product that is now in second place. My only wish is that this product came in a larger size. A goon got a lot of hair to cover!

The price is pretty good, too. It’s affordable–I paid about $6 or $7 for this in NYC, so if you live elsewhere, you’ll probably find it cheaper. Try it–it’s a good one!

Newish Green Hair Color

June 8, 2014 By ARMOURELLE

Green hair color Adore Aquamarine

My new green hair color – Adore in the shade Aquamarine.

In case you missed it on Instagram, I’ve got an awesome green hair color now! For ‘professional’ purposes, I couldn’t do my whole head, but I’d say about a third of it is this awesome green by Adore Hair Color called Aquamarine. In my opinion, the color reads more like a forest green when it’s first applied and fades to a teal. I didn’t, however bleach my hair to white, only to yellow-gold, so that might have something to do with it. Whoop!

Green hair color is one shade I haven’t had yet, so I’m enjoying it. Blue is next. Feels good to be back in the Colorful Hair Gang. I missed y’all.

Macy’s Shoe Sale! Pink Suede Shoes

June 6, 2014 By ARMOURELLE

Pink Suede Shoes by Guess
In this pink suede shoe, I could easily segue into the crybaby when “Nasty Girl” by Vanity6 plays in the club.

So are these shoes Vanity6-worthy or nah? Actually, they are. Try’an tell me they ain’t! I won’t believe it! I saw this pink suede shoe at Macy’s in Herald Square during a massive sale they’ve got going on. They made me feel like I could be Jem of Jem and the Holograms and sport my very own version of Synergy! I regret I didn’t take them home with me. This is a time when fighting the urge to shoe shop goes terribly wrong.

I’ll agree, it’s a little bit of a low heel for me and I’m all about the Sky High, baby, but this pair of pink shoes gave me some slight swoon action.

Maybe I’ll get another chance at these 80s inspired pumps. I’ve just made the executive decision that these pink suede pumps are a definite need-to-have.
