Why We Gotta be Hoes?

August 12, 2011 By ARMOURELLE

WHERE ARE THE BLACK GIRLS?

We’re good for shaking our asses in videos, but when it comes to just being shown having fun and being PEOPLE—oh, no! None of that! We gotta be “strong Black women” (mules), Vixens and Venus Hottentots (hoes), or Mammys and Hoodrats (welfare queens).

Why can’t we just be regular!? *Sigh* Where is HoneyMag from ‘99 when you need it? I’m about to go read my old issues to calm myself down bc I’m fired up!

END RANT.

Feeling Blessed? Haves vs. Have Nots

June 29, 2011 By ARMOURELLE

You know, ppl say they’re blessed based on how they measure up to others. Why can’t you just FEEL or BELIEVE you’re blessed w/out validation

Why is it, “I’m so blessed for this job bc there are so many unemployed ppl.” Why do you need to think of the unemployed to feel blessed?

Or, any other situation. I caught myself thinking that one day about something. And I said to myself, “Why would you think that!?” Why +

Would I think someone WASN’T blessed or was “less fortunate” bc they don’t have a car, job, whatever. And why would I be so snobbish to +

Feel that I was blessed based in what I PERCEIVED that someone didn’t have.

I think we have to know that we do (or, maybe don’t!) deserve the good things that happen to us. Good energy will come back to you.

I have been doing this lately. A lot. Don’t know why bc you guys know I don’t talk religion, spirituality or metaphysics. At. All.

The Lady at the Cemetary

June 23, 2011 By ARMOURELLE

I met a woman in Lawton today. She just walked up to me. Had to step outside of my own emotions. Found out she lost her dad on the 12th. +

That she was having a tough time. Recommended a helpful book to her. She needed it. Glad I was able to get out of myself in that moment.

Putting myself on hold for five minutes helped someone else who was hurting. That’s the power we have. Let’s help each other.

With that said, goodbye Lawton (Elgin, OK). I’ll see you again in July. Leaving a piece of Love here.

… It was a lesson for me too: That I can’t get too wrapped up on ME to not care about others…
