The Cheapest RiRi Woo Dupe

May 13, 2013 By ARMOURELLE

RiRi Woo Dupe

Confession: I’m cheap.

I know this about myself and I’m okay with it. Kind of. But, I will say being a cheap DIY-er lead me to search for a RiRi Woo dupe instead of wall slide at every photo on my Instagram timeline. Everyone is either swooning, jealous, obsessed–or all three–with the cool red lipstick shade RiRi Woo from the RiRi Loves MAC collection. Once I saw this color and found out it sold out online in less than a day, I was cool because I’ve already achieved the bright, cool red lip. Awesome sauce, right!?

The best and cheapest dupe for RiRi Woo is  …. NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Plush Red (#SLP813). Take a look:

NYX Plush Red as a Riri Woo Dupe

If this ain’t a RiRi Woo dupe, then I don’t know what is! And the best part is that you can grab this lip pencil in Plush Red for only $1.99! If you scour the Beauty Supply Stores for the best Cheapie McCheap makeup–holla!–then you already know what I’m talmbout! If you’d rather go the ‘regular store’ route, you can get these from Ulta for about $3.99.

NYX Lip Pencils do Double Duty–and they’re Awesome

NYX’s lip pencils are awesome because they’re opaque enough to be used all over as a lipstick. And, they’re matte. So you can get a bold shade, layer on as much as you want and still have enough pencil to go around. Just a tip though: let your lip moisturizer soak in, then blot off the access. It helps the pencil give you the best and truest cool red color.

There’s your dupe! NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Plush Red for $1.99. Boom. And for that reason, I love cheap makeup from the drugstore, the beauty supply store or the dollar store. Judge if you want to, but I’ve found some good products in all of those places.

Now go rock your red lip, Miss Hunty Ma’am!

NEVER, EVER Give Up.

January 5, 2013 By ARMOURELLE

“Just because I can’t do it today, doesn’t mean I can’t do it someday.”

Wow! God gives us amazing bodies. More importantly, we’re given the freedom of free WILL to DECIDE what we are going to do. Once we put our minds to something and have the EXPECTATION of success, it’s already done.

What doctors say isn’t was WE say. What our families say isn’t what WE say. What our friends say isn’t what WE say. WE have the power. At times, we find ourselves neck-deep in problems that we can’t seem to work our way out of, or that have left us feeling hopeless. Sometimes, we’re only in bondage to those problems because we allow ourselves to be. Don’t get ‘faked-out’ and tricked by the ILLUSION that you can’t change your life for the better. Doesn’t matter how old you are or how many times you fall on your face in the process, it CAN and WILL be done. Have the expectation and the vision of success.

Now praise dance around Club Living Room! Whoop!

Give Me My Coin: 2012 Highlights and Accomplishments

January 3, 2013 By ARMOURELLE

My 2012 Vision Board

My 2012 vision board: Say bye-bye to boring!

Too often, we downplay our accomplishments because we think they’re too small. Or, we’ve had a set-back that makes our gains seem tiny, or that even seems to void them out. When I really think about all of the things I did this year, it sounds pretty cool. Let me continue to get my quantum leap on. So, here is my 2012 Give Me My Coin Highlights and Accomplishments post.

  • Drove 1500 miles alone on a one-way road trip.
  • Moved from Oklahoma City to D.C. Metro, bringing nothing but what fit in my car.
  • Landed a nice lil’ gig with some nice perks.
  • Found out I was getting published in a mainstream consumer magazine!
  • Got an apartment in an awesome location for super cheap when I didn’t think I’d be able to find anything. (Seriously, after looking at  an English Basement apartment in Capitol Hill that was more suited for Polly Pocket, I bawled my eyes out on the phone to my mom.)
  • Met my homegirl-in-my-head Shira from SugarFreeTV.
  • Celebrated my birthday in NYC. (Thanks, Ms.SNIT Chronicles! ACE Uptown!)
  • Visited several states I hadn’t visited before.
  • Made new friends and reconnected with old ones.
  • Having my mom and sister come visit me. First time my mom had been to D.C.
  • Took my mom to NYC! Freaking highlight of the YEAR. She was a beast by the end of the day. Don’t be fooled: that woman knows what she’s doing.
  • Learned the bus system. I was so nervous to take the bus. Sounds silly, but it’s true.
  • Improved my parallel parking skills.
  • Most importantly, I fed my spirit.
