GREATNESS: FLO-JO

March 22, 2010 By ARMOURELLE

Who DIDN’T wanna be Florence Griffith-Joyner when they were little? I know I did. She was gorgeous, talented, in shape, and rocked pro nails. She ate McDonald’s and won silver medals. She stopped eating McDonald’s and won Olympic Gold with the help of her husband Al Griffith, a man who cared for her so much, the the story makes you believe in Black Love again. She had a sassy and flashy fashion sense, evidenced in her love of metallic bodysuits and affinity for long, colorful nails.

She was graceful, powerful and intuitive. An undeniable talent, running faster than the wind with a lush, wild mane trailing behind her. Stallion indeed.

Feeding the Body

March 16, 2010 By ARMOURELLE

Thinking about the C.S. Lewis quote “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body,” I thought about the various layers of it and how it fits with what I believe spiritually. I agree 100% with the quote and it resonated with me the first time I read it.

So, what comes next is a bit jumbled.

I am me. My body is a physical representation of ME or MY SELF and a means through and by which I, or my SELF, interacts with the physical world and other physical representations of various SELVES. I know how to feed my body. But, do I know how to feed my SELF? How do you do that? Is it reading my choice of spiritual text, engaging in fulfilling activities, interacting with other SELVES? I know—and more importantly understand—that I need bread, fruits + veggies, meat, water [and a small amount of junk food :) ] to feed my body, but do I understand how to feed my SELF?

Ideas & Thoughts welcome.

Don’t You Judge Me

March 3, 2010 By ARMOURELLE

I’m a writer, but I don’t feel the need to post lengthy, uniformly square blocks of prose that no one will read but me. My style is long-winded and snappy. Does that make sense? Sure, it does. I got burned out the long form stuff two years ago higher education.
